Motorcycle safety

Around the corner

In 2007 Lothian and Borders Police launched the Around the Corner campaign to engage with leisure bikers in their area, including the City of Edinburgh, to improve rider skills and highlight potential dangers.  Since then the Around the Corner Campaign in association with Operation Outride has been highly successful. It's a campaign For Bikers by Bikers promoting advanced biking skills as a means of reducing the likelihood of becoming involved in an accident.

The Around the Corner website gives bikers anywhere general motorcycle safety information and highlights road and weather conditions specific to our area.  Through dedicated route maps, we highlight areas where caution may be required and also give general tips and information.  With up to date information visiting bikers can see at a glance anticipated events and road conditions in our area prior to setting off.

The Motorcycle Section are out and about in the area every weekend engaging with bikers to raise their awareness of potential hazards.  The campaign is all about encouraging bikers to enjoy their day out with the emphasis being on their safe return home.
